Iran has successfully tested an indigenously made fighter aircraft, Borhan, Tasnim News Agency reported Saturday.

According to the report, the fighter has been completely manufactured by the Iranian military experts and has successfully passed wind tunnel tests. Iran will also unveil a new model of Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jet soon.

“Iran’s military officials had already announced that the new generation of Saeqeh is a twin-seat fighter jet, which has more power, mobility, navigation equipment, fire power, pay load and operational range compared with its single-seat version. The new aircraft is ready to be unveiled,” Managing Director of the Iranian Aviation Industries Organization Manouchehr Manteqi was quoted as saying.

“The country’s experts have managed to design a concept fighter jet, dubbed Borhan, or B-92. A concept prototype of the Borhan fighter jet has been produced,” he said noting that the project will be developed if domestic and foreign investors are attracted.

Borhan is an optimized version of Shafaq fighter and currently, 70 percent of the detail design of the fighter is completed.

Some changes have been made in the design of the aircraft to boost its capabilities, compared to Shafaq fighter, including its vertical tail as well as the airfoil of its wings, the report said.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
