French Air Force KC-130J Delivered

The French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) welcomed its  first KC-130J to Base Aérienne 123 Orléans-Bricy on September 19.

The aircraft is the first of two KC-130Js that will be operated alongside a pair of C-130J-30s by Escadron de Transport 2/61 (Transport Squadron 2/61) ‘Franche-Comté’ and will provide aerial refueling support for special forces helicopters. The second KC-130J is expected to arrive at Orléans in 2020. The C-130J-30s were delivered in 2017 and 2018 and are operated alongside the French Air Force’s existing fleet of 14 C-130Hs. The KC/C-130Js will eventually be stationed at Base Aérienne 105 Évreux-Fauville, France, which will also be home to the German Air Force’s planned fleet of three C-130J-30s and three KC-130Js.
