(Photo by Wired)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At least 27 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike in southern Somalia on Tuesday, a military official has said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"news-maincontent\">\n<p>&#8220;The airstrike targeted Al-Shabaab camps in Bulo-gudud town in the Lower Jubba region,&#8221; Col. Mohamed Sheikh Abdi told local media, while refraining from saying who had carried out the strike.<\/p>\n<p>Somali forces from Jubba, backed by African troops, conducted ground operations against Al-Shabaab bases in the area in tandem with the airstrike, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Shabaab has yet to comment on the assertions.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Shabaab has recently suffered several major blows, losing most of its strongholds in the southern and central parts of the country to Somali and African Union troops.<\/p>\n<p>Several group members have also been killed in recent U.S. drone attacks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Source:<em> AA\/\u00a0Mogadishu (02 February 2015)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The airstrike targeted Al-Shabaab camps in Bulo-gudud town in the Lower Jubba region,&#8221; Col.
