Franklin)<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"b-article__lead\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cSome anomalies\u201d with the F-35B\u2019s Autonomous Logistic Information System (ALIS) forced the US Marines in Yuma, Arizona, to \u201ctemporarily suspend\u201d F-35B operations, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing said on Friday.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"b-article__text\">\n<p>The root of\u00a0the problem involves \u201cmaintenance codes not being reflected properly in\u00a0the system,\u201d the Marine Corps statement noted.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully,<em> \u201cthere is nothing wrong with\u00a0the performance or safety of\u00a0the aircraft itself,\u201d<\/em> the Marines said in\u00a0a statement to\u00a0Breaking Defense. Mysteriously, F-35Bs in\u00a0Yuma, Arizona, are the only F-35 units to\u00a0experience the issue. The F-35 Joint Program Office has been busy lately. Two weeks ago, the US Air Force grounded 55 F-35A variants because pilots experienced oxygen poisoning mid-flight. The problem remains unresolved, but\u00a0the F-35As are back <a href=\"https:\/\/sputniknews.com\/military\/201706201054817803-f-35-lacking-hypoxia-fix-air\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in\u00a0the air<\/a> anyway. One hope is that a new sensor made by\u00a0UK contractor Cobham PLC will get to\u00a0the underlying factors causing <a href=\"https:\/\/sputniknews.com\/military\/201706191054779635-usaf-uk-firm-f35-hypoxia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hypoxic episodes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the Marines have a different issue. \u201c<em>It is imperative that we ensure the ground-based ALIS system is working properly before\u00a0flight operations continue,<\/em>\u201d the Marine Corp said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"marker-quote1\">ALIS is a complex software algorithm that is supposed to\u00a0incorporate<strong> \u201csmart\u201d<\/strong> self-monitoring to\u00a0let maintenance crews know which parts of\u00a0the plane might need repairs and order parts before\u00a0malfunctions occur.
